Residential Energy ProgramsToday conservation is more important than ever. Find out about our many energy-saving programs to help make your home energy efficient. Energy Star HomesEnergy Star is a national symbol for energy efficiency. It’s also what smart consumers look for when buying appliances, heating or air conditioning equipment, or lighting products for their home. That same symbol will now allow homebuyers and builders to easily identify energy-efficient homes built to the Energy Star Homes Northwest Certification Requirements. MW&L staff will certify the homes and the Oregon Department of Energy will issue a certificate of compliance after their quality assurance site visit. Homes built to the Energy Star Homes Northwest requirements will be at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the Oregon state energy code by incorporating construction practices and high-efficiency equipment specified by the Energy Star Homes Northwest certification requirement. These homes will have Energy Star dishwashers and 50% of all lighting fixtures or sockets must use Energy Star equipment. Incentives of up to $1,600 are available under this program. For more information, contact David Christie at 503-435-3115. Energy Star Manufactured Home Incentive ProgramMW&L is promoting the construction and purchase of energy efficient manufactured housing by offering a rebate to homebuyers purchasing electrically-heated Energy Star manufactured homes sited within our district. MW&L will offer a $300 rebate to qualifying homebuyers. For more information, or call us at 503-435-3115. Energy Efficient Appliance ProgramRebates available on new appliances. Click here for more information. Heat Pump PTCS ProgramPTCS (Performance Tested Comfort Systems) is a system designed to address problems with heat pump and central air conditioning inefficiencies. It can best be described as a "tune-up" for your heating and air conditioning system: a tune-up that relies on specially-trained technicians, modern diagnostic equipment and a computer data bank of information on each heat pump/air conditioner brand available. PTCS is recognized region-wide as an effective way to improve heating systems and also qualifies for a tax credit through the Oregon Office of Energy. The PTCS program is available for both existing and new systems (new heat pumps must be Energy Star rated). For more information call us at 503-435-3115. Water Heater ProgramNeed a new water heater? If you install a qualifying, energy-efficient water heater, we'll give you a $25 rebate. For more information call us at 503-435-3115. Solar Water Heater ProgramAdding a solar water heater to your house can save you money by reducing your water heating costs. A cash incentive and low interest loans are available from MW&L to help you purchase a solar water heating system. There is also a state tax credit available. MW&L will provide you with a list of approved installers from whom you can obtain bids. The contractor you choose will verify that you have electric water heating and will give you information about our program and about their systems. The contractor also checks the site for adequate solar access. When you decide to purchase a solar system, we will review and approve the installation contract and process a loan application if necessary. The contractor secures the necessary building permits and installs the system on your rooftop. MW&L will inspect the system to ensure you have a proper installation. Once MW&L approves the installation, MW&L will issue a check for the incentive and process your loan application. Eligible solar systems qualify for a cash incentive of up to $500 from MW&L. A state tax credit is also available for qualified systems, for up to $1,500. Weatherization ProgramMW&L offer incentives for retrofitting existing houses and mobile homes with new or additional energy saving measures, such as insulation and new windows.
