Minimum Qualifications:

Major experience in an electric utility at a level equivalent to a Journey Lineworker. Professional behavior and the ability to enhance public trust are necessary, as well as the ability to perform as a Journey Lineworker. High school diploma or GED is required. May be required to qualify under IBEW as Journeyman Lineman.

Job Description:

This is journeyman level transmission and distribution electrical system work for McMinnville Water & Light.

Employees occupying positions of this class are responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing, and constructing an underground and overhead electrical transmission and distribution system. This includes operation and maintenance of substation equipment and apparatus, and being able to accomplish switching procedures in the field or through the use of SCADA. Work involves the inherent danger of working around an electrical distribution system and requires applying safety precautions to avoid injury to self and others and completing work orders or instructions from the Line Foreman or Electric Distribution Superintendent. Work involves safely driving and operating various equipment including man lifts and digger derricks. Work also involves the proper use of "Hot Sticks" and other high voltage protective equipment in accordance with all state and local safety rules. Work is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and requires physical strength and agility. Work is inspected by the Electric Distribution Superintendent, Line Foreman, and may also be inspected by engineering personnel for quality and adherence to McMinnville Water & Light standards and specifications. Work will include climbing tall wood and steel structures, ladders, and work in and around excavations, man holes, and entering high voltage substations. Work may be performed on a regular or irregular schedule which shall include Saturday and Sunday and on call assignments. Because McMinnville Water & Light is a multi-operation utility, a Lineworker may be assigned to other work areas as needs arise. McMinnville Water & Light has a strong commitment to customers and expects employees to act accordingly. Employees must be able to communicate effectively with customers, fellow employees, and supervisor. Acts as point of contact with customer complaints and contacts.
