Green Power Program

Invest in renewable energy today! Monthly Rate: $1.50 per 100 kWh block. Want more information? Call us at 503-472-6158.
McMinnville Water & Light is pleased to offer its Green Power program, which gives customers the opportunity to support sustainable, environmentally friendly green power. Green Power is electricity generated from renewable resources such as wind, solar, geothermal, biomass, landfill gases and tidal power.

MW&L’s Green Power program is voluntary and allows customers to invest in renewable energy by purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), which represent the intangible environmental attributes associated with producing electricity through renewable sources.

Each REC equals one megawatt hour of renewable energy. By purchasing RECs you are helping to offset conventional electricity generation in the region and building a market for clean, renewable technologies here in the Pacific Northwest.

Energy from renewable sources is typically more expensive than from traditional sources. Customers that wish to participate in the Green Power program can select how much they would like to purchase, in 100 kWh blocks, at $1.50 per block.

Your participation in the Green Power program is voluntary and your support will be listed on your monthly electric bill as a separate item. Green Power purchases will be in addition to the regular monthly energy charges.

To purchase green power please complete our Green Power Enrollment Form. If you would like more information regarding the Green Power program you may call our office at (503) 472-6158.

McMinnville Water & Light is offering its customers the option to purchase Green Power and contribute to the growth of renewable energy sources in the region. Green Power is an optional product for those customers who would like to pay a premium for environmentally preferred electricity.

McMinnville Water & Light offers two types of Green Power for purchase. They are Biomethane and Green Melded. The source of the Biomethane product is projects fueled by biomass or biogas. The Green Melded product may consist of a blend of wind, low impact hydro, solar or other non‐biomethane renewable generation resource.
