Position:  Journeyman Lineman

Recruitment Dates:  May 24, 2019 – open until filled. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date.

Salary:  $47.40 per hour


Working under the direction of the Water and Light Commission, McMinnville Water and Light (MWL) operates and maintains the City of McMinnville’s potable water system and electric system for the City of McMinnville. Approximately 60 employees deliver services for the municipal utility. Established in 1889, MWL has a strong reputation as a financially sound, reliable utility, and boasts some of the lowest water and electric rates in the northwest.

A Journeyman Lineman works as a member of a crew to construct, install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain an underground and overhead electrical transmission and distribution system. Work includes operation and maintenance of substation equipment and apparatus, performing switching procedures applying safety precautions and operating equipment including man lifts and digger derricks.

In order to be considered for the selection process, applicants must have the following:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Oregon Class A CDL driver’s license with air brake.
• Successful completion of an approved Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship.
• Upon employment, qualified under IBEW Local 125 as Journeyman Lineman.
• CPR and First Aid cards; ODOT Traffic Flagger card; proficiency at pole top and vault rescue.
• Live within 30 minutes of McMinnville Water & Light.
